Sr. Staff Engineer, Battery Cell Stack
Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. What you’ll do:
- Lead the end-to-end design of high voltage battery pack components across commercial and defense aircraft programs.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders including CAE engineers, quality, testing, supply chain, and manufacturing.
- Provide hands-on prototyping, building, and root cause support throughout the design cycle.
- Work closely with integration and certification teams to ensure the product meets all FAA certification requirements.
- Push conventional battery design boundaries to meet stringent aerospace application requirements.
- Establish design standards and best practices for battery design at Archer.
- Mentor early career battery design engineers.
- Develop the battery hardware technology roadmap for future applications.
What you need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of mechanical design experience, preferably in high voltage battery design for automotive or aerospace.
- Strong engineering fundamentals (structural design, materials, heat transfer, fluids, etc.).
- Solid background in CAD (NX preferred), tolerance stack analysis, and 2D drafting with GD&T.
- Experience developing parts with various manufacturing processes in both prototype and mass production settings.
- Ability to use simplified tools, calculations, and CAE to quickly drive development.
- Hands-on prototype and build experience.
- Exceptional communication skills.

Actual compensation offered will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
