Sr. Battery Test Engineer
Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. What you’ll do:
Perform Electrical & Environmental testing of prototype and certified batteries for the eVTOL aircraft
Collaborate with teams across the company to develop test plans and execute on those plans for flight critical hardware
Perform Acceptance Testing on Modules,Battery Packs, and Charge Port Assemblies
Design sub-scale test rigs for mechanical and environmental tests requiring pcba/hardware and software development
Design and deploy custom test equipment and controllers
Design bespoke test equipment and test automation software to support cross functional battery R&D testing
Mechanical design of test rigs in NX CAD software
Development of LabVIEW, Python, and other test development tools
Analyze test data and share with engineering teams
Develop automated test equipment as needed
Develop novel test procedures and execute testing
Create reports for submission to the FAA.
What you need:
- BS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 8+ years of experience in a battery design, testing environment, or equipment design
- Experience testing Battery Pack Electrically & Mechanically
- Experience with high voltage systems: cars, aircraft, etc.
- Experience with LabVIEW
- Experience with a wide variety of DAQ systems (National Instruments is a plus)
- Experience with MATLAB and Python
- Demonstrated project execution experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of hands-on experience with electrical & mechanical systems
- Positive can-do attitude
Bonus Qualifications:
- Ability to travel to test facilities
- Experience with Battery Manufacturing
- Hands-on experience wearing multiple hats in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision
- Proficient in DO-160G, DO-311A, UN 38.3 or applicable test standards for test planning, setup, and execution
- Experience with Chroma, Keysight, National Instruments, and/or other Test Systems
- Experience with Environmental test equipment

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $144,000 - $189,000. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
