What you will do
As a Business Development Manager for Japan, you will lead our expansion efforts by identifying and closing new business opportunities within the Japanese market. Reporting to our Regional Sales Director, you will manage the full sales cycle, from initial prospecting and cold calling to complex contract negotiations. You will act as a strategic partner to our clients, creating proposals that meet their specific needs while supporting Lighthouse’s commercial goals. This role is for a proactive individual who excels at building a territory from the ground up and providing a vital feedback loop between the Japanese market and our Product Development team.
Where you will have impact
- Identify and secure new client opportunities through cold calling, email campaigns, and networking within professional industry groups in Japan.
- Manage the end-to-end sales process, including responding to inbound inquiries, conducting product demonstrations, and preparing tailor-made proposals.
- Create and execute a business development plan to achieve sales targets and improve local processes.
- Find and close opportunities to upsell within our existing client base to ensure they are getting full value from our tools.
- Act as a link between the Japanese market and our internal Product teams by sharing client feedback to help guide product updates.
- Attend industry conferences and organize regional roadshows to build our presence in the APAC region.
- Help define the 'Lighthouse way' by using AI insights and automation within our CRM and conversation tools to improve forecast accuracy and daily efficiency.
About our team
You’ll be joining our Sales team within the wider Revenue department. We are a global team of over 150 sales professionals across 24 countries. You will be part of our APAC hiring department—a team of 36 people focused on growing our market share in both mature and emerging territories. We work closely with hotels and short-term rental providers to help them improve their revenue through our technology.

Who you are
- Proven experience in business development, ideally within hospitality tech or SaaS, with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets.
- Experienced in lead generation, pipeline management, and delivering clear product presentations or webinars.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage a balance between client value and profit margins.
- Fluent in written and spoken English and Japanese.
- A self-starter who handles challenges well and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
- Interested in how automation and generative AI can improve your daily workflow, such as forecasting and deal execution.
