POSITION: Engineering Technician (Instruments)
Reports to: Chief of Maintenance & Engineering
Location: Jamaica
Job Level: Full-Time/On-Site
JOB PURPOSE
The Engineering Technician (Instruments) is responsible for maintaining and repairing various types of instruments and control systems used in industrial settings. This includes installing, calibrating, and troubleshooting equipment, as well as ensuring it functions accurately and efficiently. They work with a variety of devices, including sensors, transmitters, and other measurement tools.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Install, maintain, repair, overhaul, calibrate and test a wide variety of industrial instruments and equipment that record, indicate, regulate level, flow, pressure, temperature, position and water analysis
Maintain functional knowledge of the operation of all systems software and hardware for various equipment on site
Makeperiodicpreventativemaintenanceinspectionsofallmeteringcontrolinstruments, diagnosing existing or potential trouble; clean, lubricate, calibrate and adjust as conditions indicate
Layout, install and place into service new metering, control and record devices and calibrate as required; may extend or connect related electrical circuits
Perform acceptance tests of new equipment and inspect installation of equipment and systems for conformance with plans and specifications
Perform periodic operational integrity and safety tests
Read and interpret wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings and specifications in making installations or performing major repair work
Keep records, make verbal and written reports of work performed
Troubleshoot telemetry, PLC software and hardware and make recommendations, perform software changes and maintain documentation of said changes
Aid operations in running machines at standard speeds and centerline conditions to enhance productivity and efficiency
Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations when working with electrical equipment and automation system.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- BSc. in Electronics & Instrumentation, or related field, with a minimum of three (3) years experience
or
Diploma in Electronics & Instrumentation, or related field, with a minimum of five (5) years experience
Experience in the food industry would be an asset
Technical knowledge of instrumentation, control systems, and related equipment
Proficiency in using hand tools and test equipment
Basic understanding of general maintenance and other related areas
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES/SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
Basic understanding of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems
