We are looking for a highly responsible and proactive Finance Controller to manage our accounting records, ensure precise month-end closing, deliver accurate financial reports, uphold regulatory compliance, assist with audits, and support internal financial governance.
This position is perfect for a technically proficient, hands-on Chartered Accountant (CA) aiming to advance into a Financial Controller role in the coming years. The ideal candidate thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys enhancing processes, pays close attention to detail, and is ready to take initiative when required.
You will play a pivotal role in maintaining accurate accounting records, timely month-end closures, and audit-ready financial statements, collaborating closely with business units, store operations, and technology teams.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Close & Control
- Manage comprehensive accounting activities including journal entries, reconciliations, and ledger reviews.
- Ensure disciplined month-end closure with accurate provisioning for expenses, accruals, depreciation, and amortization.
- Maintain and reconcile sub-ledgers such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, and Inventory to guarantee a clean trial balance monthly.
Financial Reporting & MIS
- Generate monthly financial statements including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow in compliance with Ind AS standards.
- Conduct variance analyses against budgets and previous periods, emphasizing key cost and margin trends.
- Assist in preparing management dashboards, board presentations, and investor Management Information Systems (MIS).
Compliance & Taxation
- Ensure prompt filing and reconciliation of GST and TDS, and monitor vendor compliance.
- Support statutory and tax audits with accurate documentation and reporting.
- Maintain compliance with the Companies Act and other relevant regulations.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Audit vendor payments for accuracy, ensuring correct accounting of discounts, credit/debit notes, and reconciliations.
- Promote automation and maintain hygiene in AP and AR processes.
- Track aging reports, monitor recoveries, and manage working capital metrics effectively.
Store Accounting & Inventory Controls
- Review store-level accounting activities including expenses, collections, and deposits.
- Oversee inventory accounting for FOFO and COCO stores, ensuring precise valuation and appropriate provisioning for shrinkage, damage, and obsolescence.
- Coordinate with operations and supply chain teams to reconcile book records with physical inventory.
Audit & Internal Controls
- Prepare audit schedules, effectively manage auditor queries, and ensure smooth audit completions.
- Enhance internal financial controls and maintain comprehensive documentation for accounting processes.
- Assist in developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and finance policies.
Process Improvement & Automation
- Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve workflow efficiency within ERP systems and proprietary technology.
- Collaborate with Tech and Product teams to enhance data integration and accuracy.
- Contribute to establishing a scalable finance infrastructure that supports over 500 stores.
Qualifications & Skills
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) with more than 5 years of post-qualification experience.
- Experience working in Retail, FMCG, or businesses with multiple locations is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Ind AS, GST, TDS, and provisions under the Companies Act.
- Hands-on expertise with Zoho Books, Tally, or SAP; advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets.
- A proactive ownership mindset with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Capability to collaborate across departments and manage tight deadlines effectively.
