Job Summary:
Clear Water Services is hiring a Senior Accountant to support accurate financial reporting, manage complex accounting functions, and ensure alignment between finance, operations, and project teams. This role is responsible for preparing and analyzing financial statements, overseeing general ledger activities, and supporting project-based accounting including job costing and work-in-progress (WIP) schedules. The position requires strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, including contract review and percentage-of-completion (POC) revenue recognition. This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and continuous process improvement. This position will be based out of our headquarters in Everett, WA, with collaboration across our locations in Rodeo, Rancho Cordova, Signal Hill, CA, and Ludington, MI.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Close
- Support month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements
- Prepare and review consolidated financial reporting across projects or business units
- Preform detailed account reconciliations across key financial areas
Project & Cost Accounting
- Prepare and analyze Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and partner with project managers on cost tracking and variance analysis
- Review financial activity including AP, AR, payroll, equipment costs, benefits, and tax-related transactions
- Ensure accurate cost allocation and financial tracking across projects
Data Integrity & Compliance
- Gather and validate closing documentation from subsidiaries or project teams
- Conduct accounting research on complex transactions, including contract modifications and lease accounting
- Support audit readiness and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies
Process Improvement & Controls
- Assist in developing and strengthening internal controls
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiency
- Support ERP systems and process improvements
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain fixed asset records and manage depreciation and lease accounting
- Prepare documentation for audits and tax filings (sales tax, property tax, income tax)
- Perform other duties as assigned by Finance Leadership
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 4–6+ years of professional accounting experience, including construction accounting experience (manufacturing a plus)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles
- Experience with job costing, WIP schedules, and POC revenue recognition
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems (NetSuite, Viewpoint, or similar preferred)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ERP implementation or process improvement initiatives
- Ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
- Strong cross-functional collaboration experience
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
This role operates in a professional office or remote environment and requires the ability to manage multiple priorities independently. Occasional collaboration with cross-functional teams is required.
