As the Customer Engineering Lead, you will drive collaboration across engineering, product, and customer operations. You will manage a high-impact team of engineers while remaining deeply involved in technical activities such as automation, and operational excellence across customer and payroll provider integrations.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys coordinating a team, solving complex technical problems, building scalable systems, and processes that directly impact Payslip customers.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Team Management & Delivery Ownership
- Spearhead and mentor a team of 3–6 Customer Engineers, fostering strong engineering practices and problem-solving skills
- Own delivery and operational excellence for customer mappings between customers, Payslip, and payroll providers
- Support team growth, including scaling the team and participating in technical recruitment
- Drive continuous improvement through well-defined KPIs, quality metrics, and actionable insights.
Technical Strategy & Solution Delivery
- Define and own mapping rules, workflows, and integration standards between customers, Payslip, and payroll providers
- Design and architect automation solutions to reduce manual effort and improve scalability
- Coordinate the creation of internal tools, playbooks, and reusable frameworks that strengthen operational excellence
- Define and execute test strategies and test plans, continuously increasing automation and reliability
- Provide hands-on technical guidance during complex integrations, escalations, and design discussions.
Qualifications & Skills
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of experience working in software development or technical delivery environments, including previous experience mentoring engineers
- Solid technical background with exposure to Python, PSH. Moderate knowledge in AWS a (Deep specialization in all areas is not required.)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows
- Hands-on experience with version control systems (e.g. GitLab or similar).
- Strong technical reasoning, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to guide others through problem-solving rather than solving everything yourself
- Strong cross-functional collaborator across engineering, operations, and customer teams.
