Job Description
We are seeking a Mechanical CAD Designer to support mechanical design activities by creating detailed 2D and 3D models, technical drawings, and digital mock-ups in compliance with engineering standards and project requirements.
The role focuses on delivering accurate mechanical designs, ensuring design integrity, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support product development and manufacturing activities.
Key Responsibilities
CAD Design & Modelling
- Create detailed mechanical 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software
- Perform modelling and allocation of volumes and interfaces for components and sub-systems
- Develop detailed design of internal mechanical components
- Produce and update Digital Mock-Up (DMU) deliverables
Design Documentation & Data Management
- Maintain CAD libraries, templates, and design databases
- Manage part attributes (naming, material, specifications, etc.)
- Create and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Ensure proper documentation of design changes and revisions
Design Validation & Quality
- Verify consistency of Digital Mock-Up (no clashes, interface compliance, weight, geometry)
- Check design quality of internal and subcontracted CAD deliverables
- Participate in design reviews as required
- Perform stack-up analysis and tolerance studies
Collaboration & Engineering Support
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams (manufacturing, industrialisation, quality, etc.)
- Support root cause analysis for design-related issues
- Contribute to design improvements and technical problem-solving
Qualifications
Mandatory:
- Degree or Technical Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Preferred:
- Specialisation in Mechanical Design or CAD Design
Experience
Mandatory:
- 1–3 years of experience in mechanical design or CAD drafting
Preferred:
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial engineering environments
- Exposure to product lifecycle or industrialisation projects
Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, CATIA, Autodesk Inventor, or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles
- Experience in 2D and 3D modelling
- Knowledge of technical drawings and engineering standards
- Familiarity with BOM and DMU processes
Behavioural Skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
