Geotechnical Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Create geotechnical data reports, geotechnical interpretation reports, geotechnical design reports for tunnel and shaft construction.
  • Create temporary support of excavation designs, reports, and drawings.
  • Produce tunnel lining design documentation, including lateral earth pressure calculations.
  • Perform ground settlement and construction impact analysis of subsurface structures (e.g., shafts, tunnels) and 3rd party infrastructure (e.g., buildings, utilities).
  • Create and oversee the implementation of settlement monitoring plans.
  • Plan and execute geotechnical investigations.
  • Assist in the collection and review of as-built drawings and existing geotechnical data for subsurface due diligence.
  • Provide geotechnical recommendations for construction means and methods.
  • Perform construction period observation and inspection.
  • Support brick operations with geotechnical recommendations and testing oversight.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Geology, Engineering Geology or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of tunnel inspection experience.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Master of Science in Geotechnical or Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer License
  • Coursework in Geotechnical engineering (soils and rock) engineering, structural analysis, foundation engineering, hydrology, earthquake engineering), tunnel engineering, reinforced concrete, steel design, constituent modeling.
  • Preliminary and final analysis and design experience (geotechnical investigation, slope stability analysis, support of excavation, construction impact to adjacent buildings and utilities, providing geotechnical design parameter recommendations).

Additional Requirements

  • Position may require extended hours and weekend work.
  • Able to travel for short and extended trips as needed. Up to 20% travel.
