Substance Abuse Counselor

Summary: Pyramid Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and motivated Substance Abuse Counselor/Co-Occurring Specialist to join our Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) in Jacksonville, NC. This full-time role focuses on delivering direct outpatient Substance Use Disorder (SUD) services to individuals with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders in community-based settings. With various specialized programs, Pyramid Healthcare is a leader in behavioral healthcare across North Carolina, committed to providing individualized, recovery-focused treatment plans to support long-term success.

Responsibilities:

Provide community-based substance use treatment services to ACTT clients in homes and local community settings.
Conduct individual, group, and family therapy sessions.
Complete LOCAs, pre-authorizations, and clinical reviews in a timely manner.
Develop and maintain treatment plans, NCTOPPs, and discharge/aftercare plans aligned with client goals.
Maintain ongoing communication with families, referral sources, and support systems.
Deliver interventions for individuals with severe and persistent mental health conditions and substance use disorders.
Participate in on-call and emergency service rotation, including crisis planning, after-hours assessments, and hospital diversion.
Attend treatment team meetings and required staff trainings.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

LCAS(A) or CADC required.
Ability to obtain required certification/licensure within 90 days of hire (if applicable).
Qualified Professional (QP) status per 10A NCAC 27G.0104.
Valid North Carolina driver’s license.
Ability and willingness to travel locally within the Jacksonville area.
