About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Database Engineer to lead and scale our database infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for schema modernization, query performance optimization, data pipeline management, and cross-team database architecture, while partnering with product and quality engineering teams to support our fast-growing business.
This is a hands-on and strategic role that offers the opportunity to build and optimize the database systems that underpin Limble's platform and support the continued success of our expanding base of unsung heroes. This role reports directly to the VP of Engineering and collaborates closely with key stakeholders across product engineering, quality engineering, and data teams.
How you’ll make an impact
Design, plan, and lead the execution of a relational schema modernization project, ensuring continuity for customers throughout the migration.
Partner with product engineering teams to design and implement performant database schema and query patterns for new features and services.
Analyze and optimize existing query patterns across the application to improve response times and reduce infrastructure costs.
Collaborate with the quality engineering team to design and implement dev/test data management strategies that accelerate development velocity.
Help shape broad system architecture through innovative database solutions that scale with Limble's growing customer base.
Monitor and manage change data capture (CDC) and ETL processes to ensure reliable, timely data flow across systems.
Identify and proactively tackle system-wide technical debt in the database layer, contributing to methods and procedures used across engineering.
Debug complex technical problems spanning application code and database behavior, and support implementation of database solutions through software development.
Requirements
10+ years of experience with relational databases(Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
5+ years with MySQL or MariaDB
5+ years of experience designing and building web applications
Strong track record of building, optimizing, and scaling databases based on feedback from customers and internal teams
Proven experience planning and executing large-scale schema migrations with minimal or zero downtime
Strong understanding of query optimization, indexing strategies, and database performance tuning best practices
Experience with change data capture (CDC) and ETL pipeline design and operations
Strong track record of delivering projects with broad business impact across multiple teams
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under tight deadlines
Exceptional communication skills, with a history of successfully collaborating in a cross-functional team environment
Attention to detail and quality
Open to on-call rotation
Experience coding with Node.js, Golang, and PHP a plus
Experience with implementing and scaling NoSQL solutions a plus
