AI Lead
Added 2 hours agoOur Mission:
At Sunrise Robotics, we are dedicated to augmenting humanity through intelligent robotics. Our mission is to elevate the world of manufacturing by introducing intelligent, flexible robots that enhance human capabilities and existing machinery, ushering in the next era of production at higher quality, with less waste, and lower cost.
Our Vision:
We see a future where every element of manufacturing, from design to assembly, is optimised with intelligent automation. Our vision is to integrate flexible robotic solutions, based on generic hardware and advanced software/AI capabilities, into manufacturing, particularly in small and medium-sized enterprises, to make automation economically viable and accessible, for all sizes of manufacturers. We are not just building robots; we are creating the strategically crucial components for autonomous, intelligent agents of the future.
The Role:
As AI Lead at Sunrise Robotics, you will own the direction, performance, and output of our AI team, building the systems that power robotic deployments in real production environments.
You’ll lead a multidisciplinary team across computer vision, deep learning, and robotics, setting technical direction and ensuring execution against our AI roadmap. This is a hands-on leadership role: you’ll make key architectural decisions, guide the team’s work, and stay close enough to the technical details to ensure what we build performs reliably on real hardware.
Your responsibility is not just to develop models, but to build a high-performing team and deliver AI systems that work in production - from data and training through to deployment and monitoring.
What You'll Do:
Build, lead, and scale a high-performing AI team, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management
Set and evolve the technical direction for perception and AI-driven motion control
Own execution of the AI roadmap, ensuring delivery against clear priorities and timelines
Architect AI systems and infrastructure across training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring
Oversee development of end-to-end ML systems running in production environments
Ensure high standards of engineering quality, reliability, and operational performance across the team
Drive integration of synthetic data, simulation, and real-world data into development workflows
Collaborate with robotics, simulation, and deployment teams to bring AI systems into real-world operation
What You'll Need:
Proven experience leading AI or ML teams with clear ownership of delivery and outcomes
Strong track record of building and deploying production-grade ML systems
Experience hiring, mentoring, and growing high-performing engineering teams
Ability to define technical direction and translate it into execution
Deep expertise in machine learning or computer vision, including 2D/3D perception systems
Strong proficiency in Python, PyTorch, and modern computer vision frameworks
Strong understanding of model training, optimisation, deployment, and monitoring
Experience with MLOps tooling (e.g. MLflow, W&B, ClearML, or similar)
Experience working with real-world data pipelines and production constraints
Strong communication skills, with the ability to align teams and stakeholders
What Makes You Stand Out:
Experience leading AI teams in robotics or embodied AI environments
Experience with synthetic data generation and domain adaptation
Experience deploying and monitoring reinforcement learning systems in production
Familiarity with ROS2, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP)
Experience working with NVIDIA edge devices or robotics stacks
Experience integrating perception systems with real-world hardware
