Description
Tunnel Engineer
- Support daily tunneling operations by tracking machine performance, penetration rates, and wear rates
- Analyze geotechnical conditions and provide guidance on cutterhead tooling, ground support, and excavation strategy
- Assist with TBM guidance systems, surveying, and tunnel alignment monitoring
- Coordinate shift handovers and maintain accurate production reports, logs, and as-built records
- Identify inefficiencies and work with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, EHS) to improve performance and reduce downtime
- Assist with ring rebuilds, cutterhead inspections, and machine diagnostics during planned maintenance windows
- Support testing, instrumentation, and quality control efforts for tunnel lining and support systems
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in tunnel engineering, underground construction, or TBM operations (Main Beam experience preferred)
- Strong understanding of geomechanics, rock classification, and tunnel support systems
- Comfortable working underground in rotating shifts and a fast-paced production environment
- Experience with tunnel survey systems, TBM guidance, or SCADA data monitoring tools is a plus
- EIT or PE license a plus, but not required
