Looking to grow your career in an environmental laboratory setting?
We’re currently looking for a dependable and enthusiastic Laboratory Technician to join our team on a full-time basis at our Perth Airport laboratory.
This role offers the opportunity to be involved in day-to-day lab operations, supporting the testing of environmental samples including soil, water, and air. You’ll contribute to producing accurate and timely results that play an important role in environmental monitoring and compliance.
It’s an ideal position for someone keen to build practical lab experience and develop their skills within a supportive and hands-on team environment.
In this role, you will:
- Carry out routine sample preparation and basic testing of environmental samples
- Ensure work areas and equipment are kept clean and contamination-free
- Assist with reviewing and validating data where required
- Perform routine equipment checks, calibration, and basic maintenance
- Support the intake, logging, and handling of incoming samples
- Manage sample storage and disposal in line with procedures
- Follow quality and compliance standards, including accreditation requirements
- Adhere to safety protocols and use PPE appropriately
- Report hazards, incidents, or equipment issues promptly
- Continue developing your technical skills through training and on-the-job learning
Qualifications
About You
We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, values safety, and is keen to learn and grow in a laboratory environment.
To be successful, you will ideally have:
- A TAFE or tertiary qualification in Science, Chemistry, or a related field
- Previous experience working in a laboratory setting
- Exposure to environmental testing (soil, water, or air) is highly regarded
- A basic understanding of QA/QC processes and laboratory accreditation standards (e.g. NATA)
- Flexibility to work across different shifts, including afternoon hours (1:00pm – 9:00pm)
