Technical Operations Lead
About Cerrion
At Cerrion, we’re building the future of AI-enabled manufacturing. Headquartered in Zurich and backed by Y Combinator and top Silicon Valley investors, we’re building a platform to deploy video AI Agents that can see what’s happening on the production floor, automatically spot problems, and instantly intervene to keep lines running smoothly, at scale. Our technology is live in factories across 15 countries, helping leading manufacturers in glass, beverage, food, CPG, building materials and wood cut downtime by up to 50%. We’ve reached an exciting inflection point — and we’re accelerating fast.
The Role
We’re looking for a Technical Operations Lead to take ownership of the delivery process behind our AI pipeline. This role sits at the intersection of delivery, engineering, customer success, and customers. We already have a working delivery process — your job is to make it significantly better: tighter, faster, more visible, and ruthlessly well‑measured. You’ll optimise and standardise how we deliver, so the whole company can move faster with fewer surprises.
If you’re the kind of person who sees a process and immediately spots the bottleneck, who finds satisfaction in turning a messy workflow into a clean system, and who won’t rest until every project has clear owners, clear metrics, and clear accountability — this role was built for you.
What you’ll do
Own end‑to‑end delivery: You are the single point of accountability for AI pipeline project delivery from kickoff to completion. Every project has clear milestones, clear owners, and a timeline that holds.
Make delivery visible: No project should be a black box. You’ll build and maintain real‑time visibility into progress, risks, blockers, and timelines across every active project.
Drive metrics that matter: Evolve our KPI dashboards for project health, cycle times, throughput, and on‑time delivery — so problems surface early and decisions are data‑driven.
Standardise delivery workflows: Map how delivery actually works today, then refine it into repeatable, well‑documented playbooks and operating procedures that the team can rely on.
Partner deeply with engineering: Understand the technical dependencies, spot automation opportunities, and push for process improvements that free up engineering time for what matters most.
Run delivery reviews: Lead regular, high‑signal reviews where deadlines, owners, dependencies, and escalation paths are always sharp and up to date.
Coordinate across teams: Keep projects moving by driving alignment across delivery, engineering, customer success, and customers — no one should be waiting on unclear handoffs.
Eliminate operational gaps: Find the places where work falls through the cracks and put systems in place so it never happens again.
Optimise capacity: Help define when problems should be solved through smarter processes rather than adding headcount.
Scale the team: Support hiring, onboarding, and operational setup for delivery team members as we grow.
What success looks like
In your first weeks, you should be able to:
Understand the current delivery process deeply, including its nuances and edge cases
Establish a clear view of where every active project stands
Identify the main recurring bottlenecks and sources of delay
Introduce a dashboard or reporting layer that gives leadership real visibility into delivery performance
Create more structure, accountability, and predictability in day‑to‑day execution
Over time, success in this role means:
Faster, more predictable, and clearly measured delivery
Fewer operational surprises
Clearer accountability across teams
Better use of engineering time
A delivery function that scales without relying on constant manual intervention
What we’re looking for
Metrics‑obsessed: You’ve built or owned KPIs, operational metrics, and performance dashboards before — and you know the difference between vanity metrics and ones that actually drive behaviour.
Technically fluent: You don’t need to write code, but you can understand technical workflows deeply enough to have credible conversations with engineers and spot real dependencies.
Project management muscle: You can coordinate multiple moving parts across teams without losing track of any of them.
Structured and analytical: You think in systems, not tasks. You naturally break complex problems into clear components.
Root‑cause thinker: You don’t just fix symptoms. You dig until you find the actual bottleneck, then solve it permanently.
Strong communicator: Equally effective with engineers and non‑technical stakeholders. You make complexity simple.
High ownership: You default to action. When something is broken, you fix it or build a system so it can’t break again.
Comfortable with ambiguity: You thrive in environments where processes are still being shaped — because that’s exactly the work you’re here to do.
Nice to have
Experience in AI, machine learning, data operations, or technical delivery environments
Experience with process mapping, workflow design, or operational excellence
Experience improving human‑in‑the‑loop or quality‑critical workflows
Startup experience
