Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to join a growing engineering organisation within the aerospace sector.
This is a high-impact role where you will support the Project Chief Engineer (PCE) in delivering complex development programmes — ensuring performance, cost, quality, and schedule objectives are achieved in line with structured engineering processes (including APQP).
As a Senior Project Manager, you will take ownership of delivering engineering programmes end-to-end, acting as a key interface between internal teams and the customer.
You will lead cross-functional Integrated Programme Teams (IPTs) across international sites (UK, France, US), ensuring alignment between technical delivery and commercial targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery of development programmes across the full lifecycle
- Ensure projects meet cost, schedule, and quality targets
- Support and deputise for the Project Chief Engineer (PCE) where required
- Act as a primary interface with customers and key stakeholders
- Drive collaboration across multi-site engineering teams (UK, France, US)
- Manage risks, issues, and programme performance reporting
- Ensure alignment with structured development processes and APQP standards
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager within aerospace, defence, or complex engineering environments
- Strong understanding of engineering development lifecycles
- Experience delivering programmes involving electrical systems, avionics, or embedded systems
- Ability to operate in a customer-facing, stakeholder-heavy environment
- Experience leading cross-functional / international teams
- Familiarity with APQP, gated development processes, or similar frameworks
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
Desirable Skills:
- Background supporting or working alongside Chief Engineers / Technical Authorities
- Experience within aerospace OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers
- Knowledge of safety-critical standards (e.g. DO-178, DO-254)
