Job Description Summary

Manage transportation and related logistics of goods and services to and from internal and/or external customers/suppliers. Accountable for the quality of own work. Subject to direct operations supervision/prescribed work instructions/systems checking. Executes within a well-defined operations framework. There is generally a step by step sequence of standard operational tasks which need to be followed to achieve an end result.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Plan and monitor all ocean voyages to Europe in close cooperation with applicable internal functions and Logistics Service Providers (LSP)
  • Communicate closely between suppliers/manufacturing, port team, surveyors and ports/LSPs on material readiness, vessel plans and storage needs
  • Coordinate with the port team to make sure tools for loading/discharging are available on time
  • Ensure logistics and delivery strategy matches with POI need-by date
  • Coordinate and track voyages with LSPs, track component lead times
  • Obtain logistics purchase orders prior to start of service in compliance with GE sourcing policy, handle invoice or payment claims from supplier
  • Communicate transport and material handling instructions and manuals to LSP’s
  • support product import or export processes to ensure compliance with regulatory or legal requirements; maintain transport and im-/export documentation, liaise with Import / Export functions
  • support on component specific IBL cost estimate calculation and reporting
  • Own LSP claim management and recovery process, send out non-Conformity notes, liability notes and follow up recoveries
  • Support vendor and customer claim management and recovery process
  • Communicate and ensure adherence of LSPs to all logistics related EHS- and quality processes, incl. non-Conformance or Incident reporting procedures.
  • Ensure LSP compliance with GE policies or procedures for product handling, storage, transport
  • Identify and convert cost saving opportunities
  • Identify transport risks and implement risk avoidance or mitigation measures
  • Collaborate with the Global Shippers Association (GSA) on Voyager initiatives, align with documentation needs in the system
  • Coordinate the European tower fixture process; participate in the tower design assessment, purchasing/leasing strategy, ensure fixtures are available at the right time at the supplier and follow the return process from project site

Required Qualifications

  • Relevant work experience in logistics related functions with focus on heavy haulage road and sea transports
  • Basic knowledge of customs and import / export matters
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for efficient information management
  • Ability to structure and categorize information for proper cost management and reporting
  • Full understanding of and work experience in lean management
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work and report with and through global, cross-functional internal/external teams
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize diverse tasks with a proven ability to meet hard deadlines
  • Fluent verbal and writing skills in English (German language in addition is a benefit)
  • Experience in working at GE, knowledge of GE processes and business operations; or relevant work experience at other wind equipment manufacturer, preferably in the logistics sector
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%
