Job Description\n---------------\n\nJob Summary:\n\nOur Building Services team are seeking an Associate Director to join the Building Services Design Consultant Engineering team based in our Croydon office to help lead the team & act as design team on a number of MEP and multi-disciplinary projects.\n\nAbout the role:\n\nWe are growing our Building Services Team in Croydon and this role is key to the team’s development.\n\nWe are seeking an enthusiastic self-motivated person who has excellent written and verbal communication skills and who wants to make a difference in the mechanical field of building services as well as being involved with all other disciplines. We are specifically looking to appoint an Associate Director who has knowledge and experience in relevant areas, is familiar working closely with clients & Architects to deliver major UK, European & Worldwide projects. A strong knowledge and experience of the South East of England marketplace is essential.\n\nAbout the Office & team:\n\nThe Croydon MEP team currently consists of approx. 16 engineers, with the intention of growing over the next few years.\n\nThe team works very closely with our St Albans and London offices and the candidate maybe required to work in these offices from time to time and resources being shared both ways to ensure teams are supported when needed.\nThe Croydon office MEP team have an established track record of successfully delivering local and regional projects. Some of our flagship work in recent years include;\n\nNo 1 Knightsbridge, One Braham, Sackville House, Lots Road Powerhouse, London Ambulance Services South London 11 Control Centre; Tower Bridge; London Power Tunnel 2; Snowdonia VIP Cable Tunnel to name but a few. We are also working on a number of public and private sector decarbonisation schemes.\n\nJob Responsibilities:\n\n· To actively participate in the development of the team and grow AECOM’s market share in the local market as well as for projects further afield.\n\n· To act as a multi-disciplinary team leader for projects, from feasibility through to operational phase for Building Services Projects.\n\n· To manage a team/ office of engineers, specialists and coordinate and support the management team.\n\n· Ensure financial targets and internal KPI’s are meet including motivating others to contribute.\n\n· To prepare and present designs, reports and specifications.\n\n· To manage the design and construction stage activities with both external and internal teams.\n\n· Contribute to the update of AECOM standards.\n\n· Be competent to deliver, review & approve mechanical engineering calculations.\n\n· To negotiate additional fees and change control.\n\n· To act as the main point of contact with design teams.\n\n· To act as project manager for the AECOM/Client contract, managing fee expenditure and program.\n\n· To act as a mentor to junior staff, to train junior staff, and promote CPD activities\n· To manage & build client and architect relationships with the aim to get new & repeat work\n\n· To maintain and enhance expertise within the team and as an individual.\n· To support and lead our 3D and BIM capabilities.\nMinimum Requirements:\n· Knowledge and experience of the local market.\n· A highly motivated individual with excellent technical understanding of mechanical building services across different sectors along with a good overview of the other disciplines in building services\n· Significant track record of leading their discipline design teams.\n· Experience in project management within a defined fee budget and program.\n· Ability to speak fluently and communicate effectively in written reports and oral presentations.\n· An experienced Mechanical Engineer or Building Services Engineer presently holding a senior position\n· Relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering design, including areas such as specification writing, calculations, and developing designs from first principles including air & pipe system distribution, Control Systems, energy calculations and a conversant with UK codes and practices.\n· Experience of seeing conceptual designs through to completion and dealing directly with clients.\n· Able to make decisions, act on own initiative and operate in a pro-active way.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nDegree educated in mechanical or building services engineering or related discipline, ideally Chartered or at least with qualifications leading to this.\nExisting BPSS or SC preferred
