JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

JOB TITLE:                                                      Customs Clerk

DEPARTMENT:                                               Customs Brokerage

REPORTS TO:                                                 Customs Brokerage Supervisor

POSITIONS DIRECTLY SUPERVISED:             None

REVIEW PERIOD:                                           Yearly

DATE:                                                           1st July 2022

Primary Objective: To assist in the clearance and export of all goods from the port of entries, cargo sheds and courier outlets.

Sound secondary education with passes in four (4) subjects including Mathematics and English; minimum 2 years' experience in Customs clearance procedures.

Computer literacy is required for the post — incumbent must display proficiency in the use of Microsoft and E-mail applications, possess excellent customer relations and training ability. Incumbent may be required to work flexible hours and must possess a valid drivers' license,

SUMMARY OF MAJOR DUTIES:

Preparation of Customs Declarations and Data entry. in Department Program 15%

SATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE WOULD HAVE BEEN ATTAINED WHEN:

Customs entries (SADs) are prepared in a timely fashion

Customs entries (SADs) are prepared accurately to ensure correct duties and taxes

Data entry into Department Program is accurate and timely

Ensure the time collection of vouchers import licenses cheques consignee ail etc. for payment to shipping agents Customs and an other clearance process. 30%

SATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE WOULD HAVE BEEN ATTAINED WHEN:

All consignee mail is collected promptly from shipping agents and courier companies

All payment vouchers, cheques are collected in a timely manner.

All import licenses are collected promptly pending approval

All shipping documents are retrieved promptly from shipping agents

3. Facilitating Examination of cargo Customs and noting any damages or

discrepancies. 30%

SATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE WOULD HAVE BEEN ATTAINED WHEN:

Cargo should be examined thoroughly, and any damages or discrepancies noted the supervisor should notified.

Cargo that Is found damaged or have discrepancies, customers are notified promptly.

c, All supporting documents (discrepancy certificate/delivery certificate/dumping certificate etc.) are provided to support claims processing.

4. Coordinate trucking and delivery of Cargo.:

SATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE WOULD HAVE BEEN ATTAINED WHEN:

Goods are delivered promptly to consignee premises once clearance process has- been completed.

Arrange inspection for the Customs Officers to facilitate the examination of containers on the importer's premises. The importer has to be informed.

5. Establish and maintain effective working relationship with Authorities and internal external customers. 5%

SATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE WOULD HAVE BEEN ATTAINED WHEN:

a. Relationships are built and maintained with Ministry officials, Port officials, shipping agencies and Customs officials to ensure that the brokerage process runs smoothly.

SATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE WOULD HAVE BEEN ATTAINED WHEN:

All documents are filed as required by company policy and Customs Jaws.

Customer files are maintained for easy retrieval of information

7. Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Shipping Manager. 5%

SATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE WOULD HAVE BEEN ATTAINED WHEN:

Performance meets the agreed standards.

There is full participation in the appraisal- process.

Employee is punctual.

The uniform provided is worn appropriately.

Any other related duties are performed as directed by Management and are carried out in accordance with agreed standards.
