Lead Architect for Google Cloud (GCP)
As a Lead Cloud Architect, you are responsible for designing, governing, and evolving the enterprise-grade cloud architecture of the One Data Ecosystem (ODE) on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You ensure platform stability, scalability, security, and compliance while enabling advanced data, analytics, and AI workloads. You act as a technical authority and strategic leader, working closely with Data & Analytics teams, business stakeholders, and international engineering teams to deliver a future-proof, secure, and highly available cloud platform. This role is critical to maintaining the stability and availability of the ODE_S environment and driving the successful migration from legacy architectures to GCP.
About team and project
You will be part of the Finance & B2B domain within the DATA TRIBE, contributing to the transformation of the enterprise data and cloud landscape within the One Data Ecosystem (ODE). Our mission is to: migrate and modernize existing data and platform architectures to GCP; establish standardized, secure, and scalable cloud landing zones; enable data engineering, analytics, and AI teams with robust cloud foundations.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Cloud Architecture & Strategy • Analyze the current (“As-Is”) cloud and data platform architecture, identifying risks, gaps, and optimization opportunities • Design enterprise-scale GCP architectures that are scalable, resilient, secure, and cost-efficient • Define cloud strategy, target architecture, and migration roadmaps for ODE workloads • Establish cloud landing zones, VPC design, networking, and identity architecture
Platform & Infrastructure Design • Architect and govern GCP infrastructure using services such as: Compute: GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions; Data & Storage: BigQuery, Dataplex, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL; Messaging & Streaming: Pub/Sub; AI/ML: Vertex AI • Design and manage data platforms, data lakes, and analytics architectures • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform for compliant, repeatable deployments • Define standards for CI/CD pipelines and GitOps practices
Security, Governance & Compliance • Design and enforce cloud security architecture, including: IAM, VPCs, firewalls, VPNs, Cloud KMS • Ensure compliance with GDPR and enterprise security standards • Apply data protection concepts such as data classification, pseudonymization, and anonymization • Define governance models for cloud resources, cost management, and access control
Operations & Reliability • Ensure platform stability, availability, and performance of the ODE_S environment • Architect monitoring, logging, and observability solutions (Cloud Monitoring, Logging, Prometheus) • Identify and resolve complex platform and infrastructure issues • Prevent availability risks and operational bottlenecks
Leadership & Collaboration • Lead international and cross-functional teams of architects, engineers, and data experts • Translate business and technical requirements into clear architectural designs and specifications • Support presales, solution design, and strategic decision-making • Mentor junior architects and engineers; establish architecture best practices and standards • Document architecture decisions, patterns, and technical solutions thoroughly
Required Qualifications • 10+ years of enterprise IT and cloud architecture experience • 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and implementing GCP solutions at enterprise scale • Deep expertise in: GCP core services (BigQuery, Dataplex, GKE, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Vertex AI); Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Cloud Deployment Manager); Cloud networking, IAM, and security architecture • Proven experience architecting: Cloud platforms; Data lakes, data warehouses, and analytics solutions • Strong Kubernetes and container orchestration experience (GKE) • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows • Proficiency in Python and/or shell scripting • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills • Fluent English • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience Preferred Qualifications • Google Cloud certifications (Professional Cloud Architect, Security Engineer, Network Engineer) • Experience with AWS or multi-cloud architectures • Experience with AI/ML platforms and Generative AI integrations • Knowledge of Model Context Protocol (MCP) server implementations • Experience in regulated industries (Finance, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Telecommunications) • Proven experience leading and mentoring architecture teams
