Your day at NTT DATA
The Head of Accounting is a senior management role, responsible for all operational level and statutory financial accounting activities.
This role ensures that all accounting related tasks are professionally executed according to company and legal requirements whilst fostering a collaborative and innovative culture across their team.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the general ledger, accounts payable, and cash management functions.
- Oversee the execution of month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Supervise and review the processing of accounting journals, investigating and resolving any anomalies.
- Ensure that required reports are produced, analysed, and distributed for operational use; prepare income statements and cost allocations and reconcile them with relevant management accounts.
- Compile output reports and review submissions prepared by the assigned business units or functional areas.
- Support the development and maintenance of the Chart of Accounts and key business metrics to ensure effective budget management.
- Participate in compliance testing and ensure adherence to legal, fiscal, and tax requirements across applicable geographies.
- Establish and maintain internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation.
- Present recommendations to senior management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.
- Lead, manage, and develop the accounting team.
To Thrive in This Role, You Will Need
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, standards, laws, and regulations.
- Solid understanding of financial accounting systems and software.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Proven ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and manage a cohesive team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Required Experience and Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, CA/CPA, CIMA, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Head of Accounting, Chief Accountant, Financial Manager, or in a similar senior finance role.
- Experience in the IT sector is a strong asset.
- Experience working in an international, professional environment.
- Experience collaborating with external stakeholders.
- Proven people management experience.
- Working with shared services environment will be an asset
