Internal Title: Sr Buyer/Planner
Position Summary
The Senior Buyer / Planner is responsible for managing end-to-end procurement and planning activities to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality supply of materials and services. This role combines operational execution with advanced supply chain analytics, partnering cross-functionally with Engineering, Planning, Quality, and Operations to drive supply continuity, data-driven decision-making, and process improvements.
The role requires strong analytical capability, supplier management expertise, and the ability to influence stakeholders through insights that improve business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Planning Operations
- Manage purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and change orders to ensure accurate and timely execution
- Coordinate with Planning and Manufacturing to support demand fulfilment and inventory optimization
- Maintain data integrity in procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Ariba, ERP/MRP systems)
- Support volume planning and material availability to meet production schedules
Supply Chain Analytics & Insights
- Analyze supply chain data to identify trends, risks, and cost drivers across materials and suppliers
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports (e.g., Excel, Power BI) to support decision-making
- Perform demand, inventory, and supply planning analysis to improve forecast accuracy and inventory health
- Conduct root cause analysis on supply disruptions, shortages, and excess inventory
- Provide data-driven recommendations to optimize procurement, planning, and supplier performance
- Support scenario planning and modeling to evaluate supply chain risks and opportunities
Supplier Management & Performance
- Manage supplier relationships for direct materials with low to medium complexity
- Monitor supplier performance using KPIs and scorecards
- Work with suppliers and Quality teams to resolve delivery and quality issues
- Conduct supplier research and support onboarding of new suppliers
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Engineering, Planning, Quality, and Operations to align procurement activities with business needs
- Act as a data-driven advisor to stakeholders on supply risks, inventory strategies, and operational trade-offs
- Support cross-functional initiatives to improve supply chain efficiency and continuity
Data Analysis & Continuous Improvement
- Integrate data from multiple systems (ERP, forecasts, supplier data) to generate actionable insights
- Maintain and improve procurement and planning data (e.g., part parameters, supplier database, quote tables)
- Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements to enhance operational performance
Risk Management
- Identify potential supply risks using data trends and predictive indicators
- Support mitigation strategies for supply disruptions and demand variability
- Evaluate alternative scenarios to ensure business continuity
Leadership & Communication
- Demonstrate strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for business partners
- Provide guidance and support to junior team members when needed
- Contribute insights to support broader supply chain and procurement strategy

Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or analytics-related roles
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in data interpretation
- Proficiency in data tools (Excel, Power BI) and ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Ariba)
- Experience in demand planning, inventory management, and supply chain analytics
- Ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders with data-driven insights
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present analysis clearly
- Self-motivated and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
