We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help build the autonomous systems and internal platforms that power how Lemonade operates at scale. You'll be embedded in our engineering org, working across the stack to design and ship tools that make our tech teams faster, smarter, and more effective. This is a role with real ownership - from the first line of requirements to production and beyond.

In this role you'll

Build and scale microservices in TypeScript using NestJS, contributing to products used by a growing global customer base
Design and implement internal tools and platforms tailored to the real needs of our engineering teams
Research, evaluate, and integrate third-party tools - making sure they land smoothly and actually stick
Partner with engineering, product, and operations teams to spot workflow inefficiencies and turn them into working solutions
Own projects end-to-end - from scoping and design through development, deployment, and iteration
Apply AI and LLM tooling within TypeScript-based frameworks to solve complex backend challenges in meaningful ways
Set the bar for code quality, performance, and scalability across your domain

What you'll need

6+ years of backend engineering experience, with a strong grasp of modern frameworks and architecture
Hands-on experience integrating LLMs and AI capabilities using TypeScript-native tooling and frameworks
A track record of running projects autonomously and shipping high-quality results
Experience building and maintaining high-scale, production-grade systems
Strong communication skills and comfort working across diverse, cross-functional teams
BSc in Computer Science or Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience
Past contributions to open-source projects are a plus
Ready to work in an office environment most days of the week
