Scheduling Manager
Scheduling Manager | Nox Metals | Detroit, MI
American factories deserve a supply chain that moves as fast as they do. The next generation of American manufacturing is being built right now. Nox Metals is the supply chain behind it.
Nox Metals is a technology company in Detroit supplying aluminum plate, bar, and rounds to aerospace and defense manufacturers. We use software and automation to supply metal to American factories faster than the industry thought possible.
We need a Scheduling Manager to own every minute of factory time. Every cut, every machine, every shift, every operator. The schedule is the heartbeat of the factory and we need someone who can run it like a conductor. Nox Metals is an employer with real opportunity for long term career growth, this is a place to build a career, not just hold a job.
You will:
Own the production schedule end to end, cut sequencing, machine load, throughput, and on-time delivery
Own the workforce schedule end to end, shift coverage, time off, headcount, overtime
Partner with shift leads and the Director of Manufacturing Operations to keep the factory running 24/7
Sequence jobs across saws, CNC equipment, and material handling cells to maximize throughput and minimize changeover
Balance hot orders, customer commitments, mill arrival times, and machine availability in real time
Build and maintain capacity models that show what the factory can actually produce, by shift, by machine, by alloy
React fast when something breaks, when a mill is late, or when a hot shot lands, and rebuild the schedule on the fly
Live inside our software stack, NOX NEST, WAYNE, and our internal tools, you are one of our heaviest power users
Work hand in hand with the software team to improve the scheduling tools, file tickets, write specs, ship better workflows
Build dashboards and reports on schedule adherence, machine utilization, on-time delivery, and overtime
Run weekly capacity reviews and daily schedule updates with shift leads
Always ask questions, never guess when something is unclear
Look at every process and figure out how to make it better
Work safely every shift and hold your teammates to the same standard
You should be:
4 to 5+ years of production and workforce scheduling experience in manufacturing, metals, machining, or comparable industrial environments
Fluent in capacity planning, sequencing, dispatching, and shift coverage
A very heavy software user, you live in scheduling tools, dashboards, and spreadsheets all day
Tightly partnered with engineering teams in past roles, comfortable writing specs, filing tickets, and shaping the tools you use
Cracked with AI tools, modern software, and data, you optimize the schedule by the numbers, not by feel
Decisive under pressure, when the schedule changes at 2 PM, the new plan is live by 2:15
High attention to quality, every job, every cut, every commitment
Always thinking about how to make processes better, you do not accept "this is how we have always done it"
Absolutely customer obsessed, the schedule is how customers experience us hitting their dates
A team player with a good attitude, you make the floor better for everyone around you
Someone who takes ownership, if it is on the schedule, it is your responsibility
Precise under pressure and reliable, the factory runs because the schedule runs
Organized enough to manage hundreds of jobs across four shifts and a dozen machines without dropping one
Committed to safety, you build schedules that respect safe operating standards, never cut corners that put people at risk
High agency, you handle big items alone and ask for help when needed
Low ego, you walk the floor, you talk to the operators, you do the unglamorous work because it needs to get done
Able to lift up to 50 lbs and operate heavy equipment on your feet when the floor needs you
Not afraid to work outside normal hours when America demands it
Never says "that's not my job"
Nice to have:
Experience in metals, aluminum, or aerospace/defense supply chains
Background with APS, MES, ERP, or MRP scheduling systems
Forklift and/or overhead crane certification
Lean, Six Sigma, or comparable operational excellence credentials
Track record of working with software teams to improve internal tools
This role is full time, in person in Detroit.
