Description
At Diffuse Bio we’re building generative AI for protein therapeutics. Our team has been behind breakthroughs in AI protein design for the past 6 years, including the first experimental validation of AI-generated proteins and diffusion models for protein structure and sequence. We’ve built the first entirely AI computational nanobody design platform and are testing designs in lab now.
Our goal is to build AI systems that can design protein therapeutics for the most challenging and high-value targets. We see enormous potential for AI to revolutionize drug discovery and expand the set of diseases we can treat.
We are looking for candidates who are excited about the opportunity to join the founding team and play an expanding role in the company.
**Full-time, part-time, and internships available. We’re located in San Carlos.
The role:**
Run molecular biology and protein engineering assays, assist in running high-throughput protein binding screens
Work with the computational team on experimental design to assay AI-designed proteins.
Located in San Carlos (in-person)
Responsabilities:
Molecular biology assays (PCR, cloning, transformation)
Protein expression and characterization (bacteria and/or yeast protein expression, IMAC, stability characterization, ELISA)
DNA library preparation, cloning
Run in vitro display screens (phage and/or yeast display)
NGS (Next-gen sequencing) data collection and analysis
Ideal background:
Highly organized and methodical, detail-oriented and takes initiative
Significant experience in designing, running, debugging standard molecular biology and protein engineering assays.
2-3 years industry experience in a protein engineering position or Graduate degree in Biology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, or related fields
Pluses:
Familiar with Benchling and Quartzy
Deep knowledge of physics, math, molecular biology, chemistry, etc.
Graduate degree in Biology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, or related fields.
Experience with high-throughput assays (yeast display, phage display)
Experience with surface plasmon resonance (SPR) or bilayer interferometry (BLI) or circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy
What we offer:
The opportunity to join the founding team and play a critical and expanding role in shaping the company.
The opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI with leading researchers from top institutions.
Company
Diffuse Bio develops AI tools for designing and optimizing protein binders and therapeutics. Their product offerings include DiffuseSandbox, an end-to-end platform for protein design; RamaX Opt, marketed as ultra-fast affinity maturation; and RamaX, a platform for high-throughput binder screening at scale. The company positions its tools to enable researchers to design novel protein binders in minutes on a laptop rather than weeks in a lab, with scalable cloud workflows. The company’s content highlights research publications and media coverage, including Nature publications and NYT features. Headquarters are in San Carlos, California.
