Job Description
Under the leadership of the SVP of Product and Solutions, the Senior Controls Engineer is responsible for developing and supporting customer data capture from new and existing operational technology (OT) networks as well as integrating needs for a variety of manufacturing suiters, ERP, QA and similar systems. The Senior Controls Engineer will work directly with prospective and existing customers to accurately scope technological solutions aimed to deliver seamless communications between systems per individual project requirements.
This position is full time, exempt, remote, with travel expectation of up to 60% of the time.
Responsibilities
- Influence prospective customers in the pre-sale process to share understanding of the current technology the client has in place, detailed knowledge of Redzone, and effective communication of how to effectively bridge perceived gaps.
- Deliver accurate project scopes in terms of hardware and person-hour cost, accurate and timely execution of individual scope of work, and customer satisfaction as measured by after action scope reviews.
- Support the pre-sales process with on-site technology assessments including production of automation maps, mapping of existing information flows, system hierarchies and interface points and associated costs estimates.
- Develop Customer/Prospect Automation Scope.
- Hand off the Solution project to the project manager, ensuring they fully understand the architecture and are aligned on strategy and vision for how to move forward with client/prospect.
- Partner with Sales, Support, and IT Teams to answer questions and prepare the Technical RFP.
- Effectively communicate proposed solutions ensuring feasibility and confidence in the deployment of the identified solution(s).
- Implement system interface solutions within scope of responsibility as defined above in accordance with internal project management timelines.
- Work with existing platform and integration personnel to accomplish internal project management tasks.
- Set and document standards to build library of knowledge for known solutions. Develop and support best practices to simplify future workflows and ensure effective communication to customers where appropriate.

Qualifications
Must understand:
- Industrial Control Systems: SCADA, PLCs, and microcontrollers
- Signals & Instrumentation: sensors and electrical systems (AC/DC)
- OT Networking & Infrastructure: OPC UA, MQTT, networking, VMs, servers
- Enterprise Integration: ERP/MES integrations (APIs, middleware, data flows)
- Expert communication skills, business acumen, and a problem-solving mindset are required to influence technical and operations executives.
- Knowledge and the ability to learn computer-based software are required to perform successfully in this position.
- Strong use of Microsoft suite of software (ie. Excel, PowerPoint, teams, word, office).
- Ability to influence at all levels of an organization and possess sound judgement and excellent assessment skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to accept coaching.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines, tasks, and work in a high pace/high-growth environment.
Education/Experience
- BS Degree required in related fields; Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Automation Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering
- 3+ years of Controls/Automation Engineering Experience is preferred.
- Technical sales background will be considered (needs to have a strong engineering understanding)
Additional Information
Compensation Package:
- Base pay range: $100,000 - $110,000 USD Annual (12 Months)
- Placement within our pay range will vary based on knowledge, skills, experience, and market location variations as well as internal peer equity
- This position is also eligible for commission with potential OTE of $200-220k
