We’re looking for a Cloud Ops Engineer to join Payforge and work with one of our key clients in the payments and fintech domain. This role goes beyond day-to-day operations — you’ll be expected to own cloud environments, ensure reliability and security, and translate infrastructure needs into scalable, automated solutions that support business-critical systems. You’ll play a key role in maintaining and evolving the infrastructure behind high-performance, secure, and highly available payment platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and maintain cloud environments (AWS primarily, with potential exposure to GCP/Azure).
Design, provision, and manage infrastructure components including servers, databases, and networking.
Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to ensure scalable and repeatable environments.
Design and implement secure IAM roles, permissions, and access control strategies.
Monitor system uptime, performance, and incidents, ensuring high availability and fast resolution.
Own and support deployment and release processes, including CI/CD pipelines.
Perform routine maintenance tasks such as patching, certificate renewals, and system updates.
Manage backups, recovery procedures, and disaster recovery testing (RPO/RTO).
Maintain and execute runbooks and operational procedures for incident response and environment support.
Handle SSL/TLS certificates, DNS management, and related infrastructure concerns.
Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot environment issues and improve system reliability.
Contribute to improving automation, monitoring, and operational best practices.
Ensure infrastructure aligns with security, compliance, and performance requirements.

Skills & Experience

5+ years of experience in Cloud Operations / DevOps / Infrastructure Engineering roles.
Previous experience as a System Administrator is strongly preferred.
Strong hands-on experience with AWS architecture and services.
Solid experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code principles.
Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
Strong understanding of IAM and access control design.
Experience provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure (compute, storage, networking).
Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools for uptime and performance management.

Operational Excellence & Ownership (Critical for Success)

Ability to own cloud environments end-to-end, ensuring reliability, security, and scalability.
Strong problem-solving skills in incident management and production support scenarios.
Experience working with runbooks, operational processes, and structured incident response.
Ability to translate infrastructure and operational needs into automated, scalable solutions.
Comfort working in environments where prioritization and rapid response are critical.

Security & Reliability (Important)

Experience managing access control, IAM roles, and permissions.
Familiarity with SSL/TLS, certificate lifecycle management, and DNS configurations.
Understanding of backup strategies, disaster recovery planning, and testing (RPO/RTO).
Security-first mindset with awareness of best practices in cloud environments.
