Job Description

AMCL is looking to recruit a Senior Consultant Asset Management to support the delivery of consultancy and organizational transformation projects for high profile clients that own, operate and maintain civil infrastructure, campuses, and major facilities. This role provides an opportunity to learn from experts in Asset Management while working to deliver our clients’ missions and objectives. Specifically, the Senior Consultant will work with teams within AMCL to establish strategies with clear objectives and performance targets, align strategies with tactical plans to deliver improvements to assets and organizational capabilities, collect and analyze relevant data to support proactive, risk-informed decision-making, assess and improve skills and competencies to ensure the client organization is structured and staffed to advance its objectives, define and improve business processes throughout the organization, and use principles of change management to ensure enduring and sustainable improvements.

The role will be based in our New York Office, however there will be the opportunity to support projects nationally and globally.

Key Responsibilities

Asset Management Consulting and Organizational Change:

  • Assemble and analyze information about client organizations to understand how gaps in current Asset Management capabilities prevent them from achieving their desired outcomes.
  • Identify organizational improvement opportunities and support the implementation of business transformation projects including improvements to the organization and its people, value-based decision-making and risk management, data analytics within the broader scope of lifecycle information management and delivering value from technology.
  • Help clients quickly understand issues and challenges, options to address them, and potential benefits and risks associated with recommended paths forward, in verbal, visual, and written formats.
  • Communicate and present insights derived from data analytics to the team and to clients.
  • Deliver project work, including but not limited to, facilitating internal and external workshops, writing and editing reports, incorporating graphics and visualizations in collaboration with graphic designers, and delivering presentations.
  • Assist program and project managers in managing scope, schedule and budget, proactively identifying and mitigating risks, and coordinating with team members.
  • Support business development and sales activities including identifying new opportunities, supporting bid work, proposal writing, and presentation development.
  • Contribute to leading thinking on emerging business and Asset Management topics.

Qualifications

Desired Skills and Minimum Qualifications

The role requires a combination of education, formal training, and/or demonstrated experience specific to both infrastructure management and organizational management. You must have broad awareness of the following areas and be able to demonstrate specific competence and experience in multiple of the following areas:

  • The state of the practice of Asset Management in one or more asset-intensive sectors, including power, transport, municipal assets, and data centers, and common challenges from inside and outside the organization affecting their ability to achieve their objectives.
  • Understanding stakeholder and customer needs and expectations, distilling clear and concise organizational objectives from these inputs, assessing risks and opportunities to achieve objectives, and developing strategic and tactical plans to deliver value.
  • The scope of an organizational gap assessment and roadmap development project to understand a client’s current Asset Management maturity, work with the client to set maturity targets, identify potential improvement activities to close identified gaps, and prioritize activities into a resource-constrained and time-bound roadmap.
  • The phases of an asset’s lifecycle and associated processes, people, and information that support and enable good practice Asset Management.
  • Business management principles including governance arrangements, performance management, risk management, management review and management of change
  • Systematic approaches to asset information management including the definition of business needs for information, definition of information requirements and standards, data governance, and data quality assurance within the context of Asset Management.
  • IT systems that support and enable Asset Management, typical business drivers for IT procurement projects and the systems engineering principles that underpin successful IT system procurement and delivery.
  • End-to-end business processes such asset investment planning, maintenance work planning and delivery, operational readiness planning and capital project handoff, asset performance monitoring and reporting, and management of change.
  • Competence and skills requirements for various Asset Management roles in an asset-intensive organization, along with training and other skill development opportunities.
  • Stakeholder and customer engagement and communication mechanisms, for purposes of communicating and gathering information both inside and outside the organization.

Fundamental consulting skills and traits such as:

  • Planning and Delivery - works comfortably in a fast-paced environment, executing work on multiple projects/tasks concurrently, delivering projects or tasks on time and to budget.
  • Collaboration - actively listens, communicates clearly, seeks feedback to ensure the message has been understood, and resolves conflict in a professional manner
  • Integrity - acts with professionalism, establishes rapport and builds relationships with teammates and external clients based on trust and integrity
  • Information Solicitation and Analysis - researches, interprets and analyses different forms of information (interviews, surveys, reports, etc.) to understand client issues and diagnose problems, identifies and implements appropriate data analysis tools and techniques to derive insight for client organizations from data trends, patterns and anomalies
  • Problem Solving and Solution Implementation- diagnoses root causes and applies knowledge and experience to solve problems creatively, employs a logical and informed approach to decision making, and adds value by leveraging appropriate tools and methodologies when recommending and implementing solutions
  • Written and Verbal Communication - articulates complex information clearly, in a written style and format appropriate to the audience and context, translates complex analytical findings into clear, concise, and actionable insights for diverse audiences and utilizes visual aids and storytelling techniques to enhance comprehension and tailor the communication to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Executing work – translating objectives and approaches into specific tasks and deliverables, managing stakeholder expectations, and course correcting when required.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.

Additional Information

The salary range for this full-time role is $140,000-$160,000 per year. Ranges are determined by role and level and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range is a reflection of base salary only, not of a total compensation package.  Please note Turner & Townsend AMCL reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on candidate’s experience and qualifications.
