Chief Commercial Banking Officer

Chief Commercial Banking Officer (CCBO) is responsible for leading the commercial banking division, driving growth in SME and mid-market segments through lending, deposits, and relationship management. This role focuses on expanding the commercial portfolio, strengthening client relationships, and ensuring high-quality credit while maintaining compliance with regulatory and risk frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Commercial Banking Strategy & Growth Develop and execute commercial banking strategy aligned with overall business goals Drive growth in SME, mid-market, and commercial client segments Identify new market opportunities and industry focus areas Achieve revenue, profitability, and portfolio growth targets
  2. Client Relationship Management Build and maintain strong relationships with key commercial clients Oversee relationship managers and business bankers Drive client acquisition, retention, and cross-selling strategies Deliver tailored financial solutions to meet client needs
  3. Lending & Credit Oversight Oversee commercial lending activities, including working capital, term loans, and trade finance Ensure sound credit underwriting standards and policies Approve large credit proposals within delegated authority Maintain portfolio quality and minimize credit losses
  4. Portfolio & Risk Management Monitor commercial loan portfolio performance and asset quality Manage non-performing loans (NPL/NPA) and recovery strategies Align growth strategies with risk appetite Collaborate with risk and credit teams for effective risk management
  5. Product Development & Innovation Develop and enhance commercial banking products and services Introduce industry-specific solutions (e.g., agriculture, manufacturing, trade) Promote digital banking solutions for business clients Improve product competitiveness and market positioning
  6. Sales & Revenue Generation Lead sales strategies for commercial banking Set and monitor sales targets and KPIs Drive revenue through lending, deposits, and fee-based services Enhance productivity of relationship teams
  7. Regulatory Compliance & Governance Ensure compliance with central bank regulations and internal policies Support audits, regulatory inspections, and reporting Maintain strong governance and ethical banking practices Align operations with compliance and risk frameworks
  8. Digital Banking & Process Efficiency Drive digital transformation in commercial banking services Implement digital onboarding and loan processing solutions Improve operational efficiency through automation Collaborate with fintech partners
  9. Leadership & Team Management Lead commercial banking teams, including relationship managers and credit teams Build a high-performance culture Develop talent and succession planning Foster collaboration and accountability Key Requirements Education Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field MBA or professional banking qualifications preferred Experience 15+ years of experience in commercial or corporate banking Proven leadership in senior roles (e.g., Head of Commercial Banking, SME Banking Head, Corporate Banking Leader) Strong experience in lending, client relationship management, and portfolio management Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of commercial banking products and services Expertise in credit, lending, and risk management Strategic thinking and business development capability Strong client relationship and negotiation skills Leadership and team management Digital banking and innovation mindset Excellent communication and stakeholder management Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Growth in commercial loan portfolio and deposits Revenue and profitability from commercial banking Portfolio quality (NPL/NPA levels) Client acquisition and retention rates Cross-selling and product penetration Regulatory compliance and audit outcomes Preferred Attributes Experience in large or multinational banking institutions Strong exposure to SME and mid-market segments Ability to manage large-scale portfolios Strong industry and market knowledge Compensation & Benefits Competitive executive salary Performance-based incentives Executive benefits and allowances
