Social media and Communication Specialist
Change.org is searching for a Social media and Communication Specialist to amplify French campaigns on social media through content production (focusing on UGC-style video) and influencer outreach (70% of role) as well as through traditional media and political contacts across the spectrum (30% of role). You will report to our Communication Manager. Your topline objective will be increasing brand awareness among different audiences.
Change.org is the world’s largest platform for democracy.
At a time when dissatisfaction with democracy globally is at an all-time high, we’re investing heavily in using AI to build the most powerful tools in the world to give people greater voice, while bringing people across the political spectrum together to identify shared solutions.
Our core petitions platform, used by more than 100 million people annually, is growing rapidly - and we are rebuilding it from the ground-up using new tools to turn anyone into a powerful civic leader on the issues they care about. Soon we will launch a new platform to identify the >80% of issues that most people agree on, locally and nationally, and to mobilize hundreds of millions of people to advocate for those common-ground solutions.
To realize this vision, we’re expanding the most talented team in the world at the intersection of technology and social impact - all focused every day on building healthier democracies globally.
Key Outcomes:
Drive Change.org France's social media impact — shaping content strategy, producing high-impact viral content, and owning key performance indicators including reach, engagement, and new user acquisition.
Build and activate an influencer and media network: develop ongoing relationships with French influencers, journalists, and new media outlets to build brand awareness through organic promotion of Change.org campaigns.
Continuously monitor national trends and the news cycle to identify and elevate the most relevant petitions, matching them to the right audiences for maximum reach and engagement.
Promote petitions across the political spectrum in an objective, journalistic style, maintaining Change.org’s position as an open platform
Contribute to the expansion of Change.org's influence network beyond media — cultivating relationships with political and institutional contacts across the spectrum
The most important core competencies for the role are:
Social Strategy and Content Production Expertise across TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook: you understand ways of triggering engagement and virality, such as creating video content with 500K+ organic views, growing or contributing to a social account to 100K+ followers
Innovation & Creativity: You are creative in your thinking about content production and have a strong grasp of emerging trends and innovative tactics.
Influencer outreach: demonstrated ability to land influencer collaborations: co-created content that performs. You know how to pitch, negotiate and deliver.
Analytical Mindset: strong understanding of the French political and social calendar — and the instinct to know when and how to insert campaigns into the news cycle. A track record of pitching stories that landed coverage in at least two national outlets.
Political & Institutional Outreach is a plus: knowing how to identify and approach elected officials or institutional contacts to increase campaign impact.
Be comfortable appearing on-camera to present videos when needed
Comfortable using AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude) in everyday work
Native-level French speaker with excellent written and oral communication skills (level C1) — able to write press pitches, social content, and campaign copy that resonates culturally, not just linguistically. English proficiency (B2) is mandatory.
Target experience:
5+ years in social media with a track record you can show. Ideally you've worked at a digital-first media outlet (Brut, Loopsider, Konbini, a fast-growing political or cause-driven page) or on a digital political campaign. You know what a strong hook looks like in the first 2 seconds of a video. You've pitched a story to a journalist and got a callback.
