Position Overview:
LawDepot is currently expanding and looking to recruit an Accountant in Edmonton, Alberta. Working closely with our Accounting team and CEO, you will play a key role in supporting the accounting operations across all LawDepot companies. This is a part-time permanent position, working 15 hours per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
Perform bookkeeping functions, including accurately posting expenses, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank transactions, and foreign currency transactions
Record sales from multiple payment processing accounts
Support Accounts Payable transactions (ex. utility bills, advertising accounts, hardware purchases) and department budgets
Maintain organized and accurate accounting documentation to support reporting and internal controls
Assist in month-end and year-end preparation
Ensure accuracy and compliance to accounting standards, procedures, and internal control
Provide backup support to other team members and assist with additional accounting tasks as needed
Take initiative and embrace opportunities for increased responsibility over time, demonstrating a commitment to professional growth
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
Post-secondary education in the field of Accounting
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Experience with accounting software (SAGE50) would be considered an asset
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for accounting purposes
Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and discretion
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Previous accounting experience is considered an asset
Experience with process automation or improving accounting workflows is considered an asset
