Magento Backend Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Magento Back-End Engineer to take a leading role in the development and evolution of our e-commerce platform. In this position, you will design robust Magento-based solutions, drive technical decisions, and ensure our systems are scalable, secure, and high-performing. You will work closely with product, front-end, and infrastructure teams while mentoring other engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain complex Magento (Adobe Commerce) back-end solutions.

• Lead the implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance e-commerce architectures.

• Build and optimize APIs and integrations with third-party services (payment, ERP, CRM, etc.).

• Take ownership of system performance, stability, and security.

• Review code, enforce best practices, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.

• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

• Proactively identify technical debt and drive continuous improvement reminding system architecture.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.

• Extensive professional experience with PHP and Magento (Adobe Commerce).

• Strong knowledge of Magento architecture, modules, customization, and extension development.

• Solid experience with relational databases (MySQL) and query optimization.

• Experience designing scalable systems and APIs.

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

• Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written).

Bonus Points

• Experience with Magento 2 performance optimization and high-traffic e-commerce platforms.

• Knowledge of microservices, event-driven architecture, and system integration patterns.

• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.

• Experience leading technical initiatives or acting as a technical point of contact.
