As a Senior Mechanical Designer you will play a leading role in the delivery of mechanical engineering design packages for underground copper and gold hard rock mining projects. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you will apply deep technical expertise across the full project lifecycle; from concept through to detailed design and construction support with minimal supervision.

You will be a key technical contributor within a multidisciplinary consulting team, taking ownership of complex mechanical design scope including surface and underground material handling, ventilation systems, fixed plant, and associated infrastructure typical of hard rock metalliferous mining environments.

In the role of Senior Mechanical Designer you will:

Produce and lead the delivery of detailed mechanical designs, equipment layouts, and engineering drawings using AutoCAD, and Advance Steel, ensuring compliance with Australian Standards, client specifications, and applicable mining regulations
Develop and manage 3D plant models and coordinate discipline clash detection using Navisworks or equivalent federated modelling tools
Apply a thorough understanding of underground hard rock mining systems including ore handling (crushers, conveyor systems, ore passes, winders/hoists), dewatering, ventilation on demand (VOD) systems, workshops and fixed plant
Independently interpret geotechnical, civil, and structural interfaces to produce fully coordinated mechanical designs appropriate for underground environments
Liaise directly with project engineers, project managers, and client representatives to manage design deliverables, resolve technical queries, and ensure on-time delivery
