Rockstar is recruiting for a mission-driven company focused on supporting US small businesses. Statistics show that 50% of US Small Businesses fail within the first 5 years. Of those that fail, 82% cite cash flow management and visibility as the primary reason for failure. This company is on a mission to change that.
The company offers bookkeeping services to US small businesses that give them a clear picture of their business performance. It integrates its bookkeeping service directly within the POS systems and bank accounts that these small businesses already use, eliminating the need for them to use Quickbooks, Xero, or separate accounting software.
Role Overview
The company is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Bookkeeper to join its team. The Bookkeeper will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records and overseeing day-to-day accounting tasks for the small businesses using its bookkeeping service. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bookkeeping principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
The Bookkeeper will work directly within the company’s software system to perform bookkeeping tasks. Strong candidates will be comfortable learning new software systems and ideal candidates will be strong communicators about opportunities for improving both their own workflow and the company’s software.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations for the small business users. This includes reaching out to the small businesses to collect additional information as needed as well as organizing and maintaining document records for each business.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline bookkeeping processes, improve efficiency, and enhance internal controls. Implement best practices and automation solutions to optimize financial operations.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with accounting standards, regulations, and industry trends to ensure compliance with all reporting requirements. Implement new accounting standards as required.
- Special Projects: Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management, contributing financial expertise and insights to support strategic decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles, with a focus on general ledger maintenance and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in common bookkeeping software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and excitement to learn the company’s bookkeeping software. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative team environment.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive financial information.
