Our client is the leading platform connecting Nurse Practitioners (NPs) with collaborating physicians across the United States. Their service streamlines an often-complex process, enabling NPs to quickly, affordably, and confidently find physician collaborators to meet state requirements and launch their practices.

Overall purpose and responsibilities of the role:

As a Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the platform’s compliance with U.S. federal and state regulations by monitoring regulatory changes, interpreting legal requirements, and translating them into clear processes, controls, and workflows.

You will manage compliance programs, oversee risk and credentialing requirements, support contract and documentation compliance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain accuracy, mitigate risks, and drive continuous improvement.

  • Regulatory Monitoring and Change Management:

o Monitor state-by-state NP scope of practice laws and requirements.

o Track updates from Boards and legislative bodies.

o Maintain a regulatory change log and alert system

  • Regulatory Accuracy and Content Ownership:

o Maintain a centralized repository of state requirements.

o Validate against primary sources.

o Conduct periodic audits.

  • Compliance Program and Risk Management:

o Build scalable compliance framework.

o Maintain risk register and mitigation plans.

  • Provider Compliance and Credentialing Oversight:

o Conduct license and DEA verification.

o Monitor onboarding compliance requirements.

  • Contracting and Documentation Compliance:

o Maintain compliant agreement templates.

o Ensure state-specific requirements are reflected.

  • Cross-Functional Enablement:

o Support Product, Ops, and Growth teams.

o Translate regulations into workflows.

  • Audit, Reporting and Continuous Improvement:

o Report on compliance KPIs.

o Conduct audits and improvements.

  • Key Deliverables (First 60–120 Days):

o Validated state regulatory database.

o Regulatory monitoring system.

o Compliance SOPs.

o License tracking system.

o Risk assessment roadmap".

Others:

  • The role is a specialist individual contributor position, with approximately 60% research and 40% operations at the outset, and no direct reports.
  • Contract management involves approximately 60 contracts that currently need updating.
  • Collaboration with the Executive, Operations, Sales, and Growth teams, as well as presenting and communicating regulatory changes across the organization.

Requirements

  • Law degree holder with at least 2 years of experience practicing as a lawyer, preferably within a law firm environment.
  • Experience in compliance, contract review, legal documentation, or regulatory-related work is highly preferred.
  • Experience in Healthcare Compliance or U.S. healthcare regulations is highly advantageous, but not required.
  • Strong understanding of compliance principles and contract handling.
  • Ability to interpret contracts and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Tech savvy, especially in spreadsheets for data management, tracking, and reporting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate ideas.
