Tax Accountant

We are seeking a meticulous and knowledgeable Tax Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing tax compliance, preparing tax returns, and advising on tax-related matters to ensure CT's financial and operational efficiency. This position requires a proactive individual who can navigate complex tax regulations and optimise tax strategies for our growing organisation. This role will be part-time (3 days a week) and based in our Coburg, VIC Head Office, with flexibility to work both from home and from the Coburg office.
What You’ll Do
- Review tax returns prepared by external advisors across companies, trusts, and self-managed super funds, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with current legislation
- Provide practical recommendations to optimise tax positions across group structures, including cross-border considerations (Australia, New Zealand, UAE)
- Partner with external tax advisors to refine strategies spanning corporate tax, individual tax, and broader structuring initiatives
- Act as the internal subject matter expert on tax, advising leadership on implications of business decisions, restructuring, and growth initiatives
- Support year-end and ongoing audit processes by liaising with external auditors, preparing documentation, and resolving tax-related queries
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and proactively assess impacts on the business and its entities
- Contribute to continuous improvement of tax governance, processes, and documentation across the organisation
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience across Australian tax, with working knowledge of New Zealand and UAE tax environments
- Strong understanding of legal and financial structures, including trusts, companies, and self-managed super funds
- Proven ability to review and challenge externally prepared tax work, with confidence to recommend improvements
- Broad exposure across company tax, individual tax, and tax planning/strategy
- Experience working with or alongside external accountants, advisors, and auditors
- High attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex tax matters into clear, actionable insights
- Commercial mindset with a proactive approach to identifying risks and opportunities
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
